Our org was acquired several months ago and we have moved onto the new company's (non-Lawson) HR / payroll / benefits systems. We don't want to keep our Lawson HR suite going indefinitely and would like to archive the data in a way that we could access it in the future without having Lawson HR on our system. Has anyone any experience with doing any such thing? Which vendor did you work with and what sort of accessibility did you end up with? Keeping Lawson HR on our system, which is hosted, would be a sizeable ongoing cost for hosting, software, and upgrades. (You can't upgrade just part of the system; we are still on 9.0.1 and can't see the sense of upgrading the HR suite just to access old data.) This is a hot topic so I have my fingers crossed that someone will be able to share experiences soon. Thanks.

Our Lawson data resides in a SQL database, so you should be able to get a Database Admin make a copy of the database, and a developer to build you views in order for you to access, extract, and report on the data as you need it, if it is just for historical reference purposes. Actually, you could probably link the historical database from Lawson into the reporting module of the new HR system, if you wanted to have more in depth data for analytics and reports.

Thanks Promiseevans - I expect that we're going to have to spend money to have this done as it gets way out of my background, but it's encouraging to hear that there should be a way to do this.

We did it with one of our customers but it was for Oracle Apps Financials, Things will remain same for Lawson as well.....

          - Ask a DBA to take an archive of the database . All the users should only be give read only access on the DB.
          - You need to build some queries that will populate the data as per your requirement. Ask the developers to give enough parameters so that Business can filter the data.

          OR

          - In case you are using Crystal reports Or some reporting tool similar to it you can build up reports that you will be requiring in near future. Crystal Reports are more flexible than PL/SQL queries.

Ask the Business to verify/Test the Queries/reports.
