Does anybody know where ESS pulls a user’s first name for the “Welcome…” in the upper right hand corner?  An employee has changed her first name and Lawson has been updated, but when she logs into ESS she still sees her previous name.

It comes from the RMID in the Lawson Security LDAP.

Hi Barb and thank you for your prompted response. Is this something our security Admin guy can check to make sure it picks up the updated name?

Yes, it can be manually updated. However if you have ESS and/or MSS active, it is critical that you keep Lawson "HR11" in sync with the RMID data (new employees, terminated employees, existing employee name, email address, appropriate role changes if an employee becomes a manager or vice versa, etc.) since Lawson uses HR11 for some purposes and the RMID for other purposes. You need to put in some kind of daily automated process that updates the RMID's.

More: It is also especially important to audit the RMID identities for duplicate employee numbers to prevent data security breaches (e.g. the wrong RMID given access to the data for someone else's employee number).

Thank you so much for the information. I passed it on to our Security guy so he can manually update the RMID to sync up with HR11. I would have never been able to figure this out on my own. I looked in the employee table and it was updated with her name but I have never heard of RMID before. Thank you!! :
