    We are being told that LAWSON must come out and install Ent. CR on our server.

    WHY? this seems fairly straightforward. [Note sarcasm with "straightforward" and Lawson in the same post]

    Is there any exp. of someone who puts ECR on a server box and runs it against Lawson. I'll worry about the security intertwining later {read - next productline build}

      I'm sure you have probably done something about this already, but, I agree with you. We had Lawson come out and do the install of ECR, but it did look pretty simple. Before they did this, we were using a different Crystal Reports server and reporting off the Lawson DB just fine, so I'm sure you can do it. Just, as Lawson always says, they won't support you because it isn't a "certified" install.

        I cannot speak to the security aspect. However, when we upgraded from 7.0.x to 7.2.3, we changed the name of our Production product line. Conveniently, we forgot to tell the ECR folks that they would need to remap their queries.

        The funny thing is that Lawson was truly, and documentably, faster right after that upgrade (and that NEVER happens, even after a CTP push). Well... as the ECR users got their bearings, the performance started to deteriorate.

        Even before this, we were concerned with the impact of ECR queries going up against the Production database. It was not too long after this that we were able to "justify" getting a mirrored database for querying. We regained some performance after that. And then we upraded to v.8.0.3...

        Again, I know it is not directly related to the question, but just thought I would throw that out for consideration.

        Specific to the question of security. I know that we have "views" set up by Lawson company. Access to these views is determined by company and responsibilities (i.e., I have no access to the HR side of things). Having said that, I can only say they exist, not how they came into being.
