Just got an email from my PM stating we need to get to Infor BI for Lawson.
A PDF attachment to this email indicates
How to move from LBI to Infor BI for Lawson
A migration consists of two parts:
• A license migration, and
• a technical migration.
License migration
Customers just need to provide the existing LBI and Viewpoint license SKUs to their sales
reps. There is a standard conversion document available that provides the resulting Infor BI
for Lawson licenses based on the original LBI and Viewpoint licenses. There will be a zero
dollar order needed to complete the migration.
I have a question: Is this not just an upgrade to 10.4.x ?? Where does the license migration come into play? I don't recall ever having to enter a license key tin install an upgrade to LBI.
Is this just more or less "paperwork" for Infor to do, so that they can get a handle on who's using BI? Or do we just not have access to the "Infor BI for Lawson" download link?
Any help or suggestions welcome,
-Greg

Infor BI is a completely different product.
The license migration is just paperwork.
The technical migration is to migrate LBI content to Infor BI.

So, John (and others) is Infor BI for Lawson different than Infor BI ?
I just applied the update to 10.4.x to our Test system and it comes up with an "Infor BI for Lawson" logo.

Sorry I misunderstood your question..."Infor BI" not the same as "Infor BI for Lawson" (quite subtle, huh?)
The 10.4 you are referring to is "Infor BI for Lawson", which was "Infor Lawson BI" and previously LBI.
The product remains the same, containing Infor Lawson Framework Services, Infor Lawson Reporting Services, and Infor
Lawson Smart Notification.
The "Infor BI" platform is another product entirely (i.e. reporting services isn't Crystal, etc.) and that's what I was referring to...

The more I read and re-read this document, the more confused I get. It must refer somewhat to a different product, as it mentions 'Viewpoint' and 'Microsoft Analysis Services' as well. The best I can figure, Infor wants to move forward with their "Infor BI" but doesn't want to lose any of the Lawson (LBI) customers.
Could it be possible that they are actually combining the two products?
Document attached.

Consider this the first step in the evolution
"infor BI" is the ultimate destination.
(and yes, expect to see use of Crystal disappear at some point...)

John,
It's been 10 months since you posted it, so I am wondering if perhaps you might have any more information to provide regarding your last post here.
More specifically, are you able to provide any additional insight into when the use of Crystal may actually disappear and whether or not the use of it would still be an optional choice by the client, or if Infor would mandate using some other replacement product (assuming it would be Infor BI) when it does happen?
I'm wondering for a few reasons...We don't "own" Crystal outright. Our Crystal licenses have simply been included in our Infor maintenance as a 3rd-party add on for as long as we've been on Lawson. Also, since all of our LBI reports have been developed in Crystal, will Infor provide a conversion tool to convert the reports from Crystal to the new reporting product, or will we be forced to re-write all of our reports form scratch in the new tool?
Thanks in advance.

Is there an update on the transition to INFOR BI. Specifically, will INFOR continue support Lawson LBI for more than a year?

We upgraded Lawson BI to Infor BI for Lawson 10-4-7 last December. Infor just changed the name, nothing special, upgrade just like normal as before.

Nearly no changes.
