We add new hires directly onto the HR11 and it normally populates their employee groups automatically.  Last week it quit working.  At that point we had 539 employee groups.  We were able to remove 4-5 of them, one of which included every employee ever loaded into Lawson.  We also made some adjustments and were able to reduce the number of employees in some other groups.  This allowed us to lower the overall number of records in PGEmployee from 2.3 million to 1.8 million. Even with these changes and reductions, we are still unable to get employees to automatically add to the HR11.  I am now running the HR156 wide open nightly to get the employees into the proper employee groups.

Oddly enough we had just refreshed our test environment, but even with getting the number of records in our test environment on the PGEmployee table to 2.8 million, we are not able to recreate the issue.

We reviewed this post below and while it is similar, it appears that by deleting some groups, they got it to work.  But we are still not able to get it to work.

I have opened a ticket with Lawson, but not received much of a response yet. Any thoughts on what else I could try or what I could have our IS team try?  Do I need to recompile something?

Hi Kelly. We had the exact same issue in November of last year (2014). At the time we were on Release 9.0.1. We are currently on Lawson 10. Running HR155 or HR1156 would add the employees to the groups, but adding them in HR11 was not. When we changed employee records in HR11 or performed personnel actions, it worked then as well. Just not on add. We have multiple companies. It worked fine in one company but not the other. The company that it worked for had less employees and less employee groups. When we consulted Infor they initially tried to have us install a CTP to up our version of HREMPGRP70 which drives employee groups. Ultimately they came back and told us that there is a record threshold related to employee groups in HR11.1. At the time, we were over 1.4 millions records (total for both companies) in PGEMPLOYEE. We deleted one of our larger employee groups that had 11,990 employees assigned to it. This lowered the number of records to around 1.39 million. Afterwards we added a new employee in HR11 and it added them to all employee groups (69) as expected. It worked for about a week, then the problem started again. Infor then doubled down on their initial note by saying that they have found cases in programs like HR511 (and by default HR11) where issues can occur if the number of employee groups are > 800. And according to Infor the reason that it works in HR155/HR156 is because those programs have a higher threshold (2,000 groups). When they told us that, we did some cleanup on our end to get below this number of groups. It seemed to work fine in our Lawson 9 environment going forward once we did the cleanup. We have since moved to Lawson 10 (project completed this past August) and have not had any issues with it thus far. Looking now, our number of records in PGEMPLOYEE is above the 1.4 million threshold, however our number of employee groups for the company that we had the issue with originally is still below 800. In summary, deleting some employee groups seemed to work for us but you seem to be well below that limit. Is 539 the number of employee groups that actually have employees in them or the number of groups in PERSGROUP. Also, I don't know if this performs any differently depending on the version of Lawson you are running. I'd be curious to know what version you are on.

        Orlando,

We read your earlier posts regarding your issues. 539 is our total number of employee groups, with and without employees in them

We originally had about 2.3 million employees in employee groups. After some clean up we were able to get it down to 1.86 million.

        We are on 9.01.
