Has anyone set up a standard external link on the portal menu in employee self service?  I know we can do this on our personal portal menu in the my shortcuts area, but is it possible in the employee self service portal?

We would like to put a link to some of our vendors on the list under the Benefits area.

if you're talking about adding a new menu option under ESS/Benefits bookmark, that goes to an external link...then Yes.

Add a new bookmark and set the URL to the vendor's website. I've done similar in the Direct Deposit bookmark to go to our Payroll vendor.

When our employees log in they go directly to Employee Self Service so they don't see a bookmark icon. We are on version 10 and ended up modifying the HTML code to add a link to another page that contains links outside of Infor.

It is completely possible. But you'll need to play with the settings a bit to have optimal results.

For 9.0.x (web portal) - I go to the Manage Bookmarks link on the home page. From there I navigate to the folder I'm planning on adding the link to and right click to pop up a menu and select "Add Child".

It should be fairly self explanatory from there. The big thing on our end is deciding if the link is going to open a new window or not and if it opens a new window what other parameters to use.

Since our employees access ESS from home via a remote Citrix connection, we block any new windows from having any toolbars that would allow them to 'escape' the sandbox and start browsing the web directly. On top of that, we have a wide variety of monitor resolutions available and not all of our systems are set to pin a new window to a tab, so we have to go through a bit of usability testing to determine what size window should pop up.
