We are trying to implement PR132 – FLSA OVERTIME CALCULATION in our payroll stream and are trying to figure out how to set-up and use for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

According to the legal documentation that we have found, the following rules need to be applied for these states:

    Massachusetts:
    a) 1-1/2 times regular rate after 40 hour week for employees covered by state minimum wage law.
    b) Retail, drug or food stores with more than 7 employees on any day during the week must pay time and a half for any work done on Sunday.
    c) Retail employees working on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day must be paid time and a half.

    Rhode Island:
    a) 1-1/2 times the regular rate after 40 hour week.
    b) Work performed on Sunday s and holidays must be paid at time and a half.

For both states we have no problem with the set-up and use of PR132 with point A. However, for points B & C we have not found a way to handle this within Lawson and the GSC has stated that there is no current functionality to handle this.

Is anyone else currently using Lawson Payroll to process overtime in either Massachusetts or Rhode Island? If so, how are you doing this? Are you using a pre-cursor “home-grown” application or a third-party app that is feeding “massaged” data into Lawson and thus by-passing PR132?
