RQ10 Upload Challenge

    Hi all Upload wizards,

We have been using the RQ10.1 Self-Contained Upload Worksheet from the site, http://hpsale37.lawson.com/lu/addins/main.htm, with a great deal of success this past week but today ran into a snag.  We have a 45 line Requisition that gets posted as 9 separate Requisitions with 5 lines each versus the desired one Requisitions with 45 lines.

Here's the challenge, is it possible to create a 45 line Requisition via an Add-in or is there a limitation of just 5 lines due to the structure of the RQ10.1 form in Lawson?

    We are running, Version 9.0.1.3.175.

      Jeff,

I recently created an RQ10 Add-In for our users. I'm not familiar with the Self-Contained Upload Worksheet that you reference above but yes, it is possible to create an RQ10 upload for multiple lines for one requisition. I actually had to create two Add-Ins, one for special items only and one for Inventory and Non-Stock items. Both versions of the Add-Ins were tested adding 70 items per requisition.

          Hi Ken,

Thank you for your quick reply.  The Add-in I mentioned works differently in the sense that VB code is mapping your data versus the column headings in the Excel worksheet.

I take then you used the more standard Add-in method?

Would be willing to share what is working for your organization?

            Jeff -

No, we don't use any VB code to map the data. We populate the data into Excel and use the .uwf files to load into Lawson. Shoot me an email at ptakk@ccf.org and I can explain how our process works.

                Ken,

I'm not sure if you still check here at all, since it's been quite a while since this thread (or if anyone else has had success with uploading more than 5 lines for a RQ10), but I would be interested in knowing what fields you mapped to successfully do so.

With my somewhat limited knowledge of VB, I was unable to get the Self-Contained RQ10 Upload Worksheet to take more than the 5 lines per requisition (though I was able to make it read more than 5 lines. Just cannot figure out where it goes wrong as to getting more than 5 lines sent to Lawson for the upload). For the normal Add-Ins template upload, I have been unable to get it to recognize multiple lines as a single requisition; rather, it reads each line as a new requisition and adds them as such, no matter what I attempt to map to get it to do otherwise. I attempted to map the line number in the hopes that would get it to recognize each line as a line within a requisition, rather than each line as it's own requisition, but that did not do anything whatsoever it seems.

Anybody have any ideas or successfully uploaded more than 5 lines for a single requisition who would be willing to help?

                Thanks.

                -Darien

Darien - Please see the attached documents that explain the process I created to upload multiple lines to a requisition. I hope this helps.

Just curious. What is the purpose of having the end user create a req header but have SCM uload the lines?

Ken, I'm not sure if you continue to check this since it is a fairly old thread, but I am also struggling with the 5 line limit issue. How do you get past this? Any assitance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

                      Thanks

                        Hi Angie,

Infor may actually have the solution for you. I met Don Peterson at a User Group presentation and he shared his wealth of MS Add-Ins knowledge with us. He created a set of sample content for MS Add-Ins (RQ10 included) that is available on the Infor Product Download Center. Choose Technology then Technology Sample Content and download the MS Add-Ins Spreadsheet.

I have not tried to use the RQ10 process, but it is documented to handle multi-line requisions.

The best part about it is that Don included his contact information and will anwer any of your questions.

                        Hope this is helpful?

The key to uploading against header/detail forms like RQ10 is to always map and upload into row 1.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

The only challenge we've ever had with RQ10 is that you need to add one req header and then add lines as changes. So it's a dual upload.

To add the header, my upload map is:
                            f3: Requester
                            f17: Company
                            f19: Req Loc
                            f22: Deliver To
f23: From Company, f24: From Location are mapped to blank columns to make certain it pulls in the default and not the values from the previous Req.
                            Upload as ADD ONLY.

To add lines, you can upload all to the first row - you just need several blank columns to ensure the system defaults information and not values from the row above.:
                            f3 Requester
                            f6 Req# from the above
                            f71:0 FC (A for add)
                            f72:0 Line number (Blank column)
                            f73:0 Item
                            f74:0 Qty
                            f75:0 UOM
f76:0 unit cost (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f79:0 Description (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f82:0 Vendor Item (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f91:0,MMD-ACCOUNT1 (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f108: Vendor (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f110:0 Purch From Loc (blank for lawson items, populated for specials)
f112:0 PO Code (if it's blank then populate that)
f123:0 Ven Agrement Ref (Blank column)
                            f125:0 purch major (Blank column)
                            f127:0 purch minor (Blank column)
                            Upload as CHANGE ONLY.

I do not know of anyway of populating the req number "automatically" - it's either going to add a req per line or want you to populate it. If there is a way, please let me know. But this map is what we use for the Hurricane Orders and it lets me add multiple vendors and multiple item types to the same req. It's just a matter of creating the header and then going back and populating the lines with the req number.

For some reason, I keep getting the error that the requisition does not exist...
Anyone have any update on this topic?

Which part of Kat's instructions are you attempting. If you use the "Change only" function when trying to add the req headers you will get that message.

We just ran our hurricane order reqs - maps still work for me. First is ADD ONLY, we upload over 100 reqs so I run an RQ140 to get them all and use a vlookup to populate the req number for the second upload which is CHANGE ONLY.

Kat's line detail almost worked for me, I needed to add "Company" too (f17, I may be on a different version as some of the other "f" values were different)

I can successfully add the RQ10 header with the upload outlined by Kat V. When I try to add the lines I get "Requisition numbers will be assigned" and it will not add to the req# I entered for the line.

So Don Peterson does have Self Contained Workbooks - they are using VBA in Excel to run the add in.  You can get them from Infor and the canned ones do things like upload a "Change and Release" command to MA66.3 so we can work a large problem vendor in Excel.

He's got one for RQ10 that does what the original poster in 2009 was stating - uploads the first 5 lines as an Add then the others as a change to that generated req number.

It is limited to Item Master items only, but I know RPI can be engaged to modify and tweak them. (I discovered them through one of their webinars.)  I'm definitely trying them when the next Hurricane order season comes around.
