Using add-ins with Excel 2010

    Our IT department is planning to upgrade our company from Office 2007 to Office 2010 and from Windows XP to Windows 7. I know that the add-in is not certified to run on Excel 2010; but I've been testing it and it seems to work except for the fact that the login dialog box does not retain the server and username. Has anyone else found this as well?

      In the past, if the username and server name isn't being retained it is because the user does not have admin rights to the local machine so the file that holds this information is not updated.

        Good thought, however, user does have admin rights to the machine. Any other ideas?

          Hi there,
          I have had the same problem and what I found is that the user does not have write privileges to the directory where the file that holds the information is located, even if they have Admin rights.
          The file is located in the following directory:
          C:\Program Files\Lawson Software\Office Add-ins\LoginDir
          there should be at least two files
          1- LoginCurr.nbp
          2- LoginHist.nbp
          If the user cannot write to those files user name and server name will not be saved for next time.
          Make sure the user has write privileges to that location.

            Alex- Thanks! That was the problem. I checked my local pc directory, and found that there was no LoginDir folder. For some reason, Excel 2010 did not create one, thus I had no current or history files. I manually created the LoginDir folder and was able to use another user's files (one that is still on Excel 2007) and that allowed for me to retain the server and username info.

                  Thank you. I was successful installing MOA32 10.0.1.0 - P19948. I had to run the installer as an administrator even though I have administrative rights.

                    Thanks everyone for your feedback on this issue. As this issue seemed to be unique just to my newly setup thin client, my IT folks didn't feel it was worth the effort to research and fix. After finding this post, I initially had to create the missing directory "LoginDir" and tried that hoping that the "LoginHist.nbp file would create itself, no joy. I then went to a co-workers zero client and logged in to the Add-Ins application. The "LoginHist.nbp file was created, which I then copied, emailed to myself, and put it in to the "LoginDir" folder. That worked for me and then at this point I was able to get the IT folks to set me up with the proper permissions on this folder so I shouldn't have any issues with this in the future.
