I am looking to find out how you notifiy your end users when an item changes from one item number to another for various reasons.  I thought in IC11 you could use the replacement item field, but that doesn't work in requisition center letting users know what the new item number is.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Thank you

      Greetings Brenda,

This is a weakness within Lawson. The replacement function does not work with RQC (which would be ideal). There is no easy means to identify replacement items. We handle this one of two ways:

      1) Replace the IC11 record with the new item (change IC11, IC12, PO13, PO25/CM). This should only be done with item replacements that are, for all intents and purposes, considered exact replacements.

      2) Inactivate the old item. Use the Description field to reference the new item (new IC11 record).

It isn't ideal, but I haven't found a better means to accomplish this.

We look on IC40 to see where it's stocked. If it isn't in stock anywhere, we run the IC331 and IC330s to replace item A with Item B. We also run PO115 to change the templates. Then we inactivate on PO13.3 and on IC11 we change Description 1 to "ITEMA VOID USE ITEM B" and inactivate.

If it IS in stock somewhere, we do PO115, PO13.3 and change description on IC11 but not active status. There is a nightly custom report that the inventory folks get that shows them if they have an item active on their IC12 where description contains " VOID " - they have until month end to figure it out. We run the IC331, IC330 and inactivate the IC11 as part of month end housekeeping for items still pending.
