OR and MSCM

    Looking to see what others are doing with their OR and MSCM.  They're currently not perpetual and we use Epic.  We have plans to use the interface to decrement quantities and make them perpetual but we're not there yet. 

    We'd like to get to them to utilize the handhelds in some way.  What are others doing with MSCM and their OR to help with their workflow?  Is POU an option?

      Our OR uses Epic Optime but is not perpetual. For the OR Shell, Suture Room, Endo, Anesthia, etc - they use IC81 as a non-stock par location. This allows them to use the MSCM par count to create replenishment reqs to the vendor. Accordingly, this option is for the Buy UOM.

      MSCM has a POU module but we have not looked at it.

        Thanks for that info.  So those locations are all non-stock? 

         

        We have a main inventory location that contains non-stock and stock.  We can easily create an IC81 for that.  We have other locations that take in items from this main inventory location and it also contains other non-stock items.  Is there a way to do that via IC81 or would that only be possible with a perpetual inventory.

          You'd have to go line by line on IC81.

          On the header, populate the from location that you have for it on RQ01. Then per line, populate the replenishment - if they pull from the inventory, populate company and that warehouse location. For non-stock, leave company and location blank and populate vendor and purch from.

          We don't have this, so TEST IT. But yes, you can pull different lines from different sources on IC81.

            Neil, if I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like you have an OR main inventory that is not perpetual but other supply areas around the OR pull supplies from this main location. The OR main location replenishes from your perpetual location and from vendors. So you're asking if you can set up a par (other area) to pull from another par (OR main)? Unfortunately no.

              Thanks for the feedback.  We're really struggling with this one.  Any advice on how to manage this would be great.  We want to use MSCM to allow them to be more efficient but trying to figure out a way to do this with their current set up.  I've provided a few details below.

               

              Main OR Location (not perpetual - contains both stock and non-stock - stock comes from our main warehouse)

              Other services and locations (not perpetual - contains stock and non-stock - takes in product from the Main OR location)

                I failed to mention that we're on Epic so the pick tickets populate from there.  We hope to integrate more with Epic and the depletion interface at some point but we're not quite there yet.
