We are implementing the transmission of Benefit Enrollment data to the insurers, using
    the BN106 application.

Lawson does not currently support the translation of the HIPAA834 data file into EDI X12-04010 834 format.

What translator engines are other clients using for processing the HIPAA834 data files?

Greg, the two ways I have seen it done are via COBOL and via Mercator.

I am trying to build this flat file using BN106, but keep getting "no data to print in benefit transaction export report" ? Am I missing a step here? Also, where does this file get created? Thanks!

Hi Michael, the file is created in the user's print directory and is named hipaa834. In order to get data from BN106, you need to have completed the HIPAA setup. Some instructions are available within the HR user guide or alternatively on Lawson support article 68294. Once you ensure that you have the system configured for HIPAA transactions, try getting a validation file from BN106. To do that: On the Main Tab: select the appropriate information for company and insurer. Select either HL or DN for Benefit Type and then select all of the appropriate plans to be reported on. For File Option select 2 - Create file and Report, set delete records to N. On the Run Options Tab, Set Transaction Purpose = 2-Validate, enter an As of Date such as the current date. Select Rerun Option 1-Not a rerun. Complete all other information as appropriate, the from Identifying Code down and on the Data Options and Enrollee Data tabs determine which records are provided in the file.

Once the bn106 prints, what types of things will need to be done to make this file 834 compliant?

Is special software necessary to make those types of changes?

We are looking at hiring a consultant to work with us on this, but I'm hoping that it is something that we can do ourselves.
