I am trying to figure out the conditional rule that would allow for specific department(s) and/or security class to only have inquire access during a specific time/date. They would still be able to access forms and reports based on their security class, however, only be able to inquire.

Hi Jose,
I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you found a solution. I am trying to figure out how to give inquiry access only to a particular product line or category (AP, RQ) without having to do it for each form. Thank you.

I wish there were an easier way. One must go thru the pain at least once.

We are in the process of upgrade to LSF 9 and I just attended a Security Class. The server is down right now for uprading purposes so I cannot try this.
However, the security manual mentions user attributes for date and time rules. The examples of rules that take date or time into consideration mentions Data Source is not available after 6:00 p.m.
Best practice is to create a data source ROLE. So I wonder if you create the data source ROLE and apply the date/time rule to it, then assign the ROLE to the users, if that would work.
SLDTOBS and ULDTOBS are attributes that tell Lawson Security if the server and user observe Daylight Savings Time. The UTZOFFSET attibute needs to be set according to time zone.
Would be interested in anyone tries this and what the results are.

My intention for the time/date rule was to lock users and only allow them to conduct inquiry access during payroll week to avoid any changes that could potentially affect payroll processing. I wrote a rule out to data field in pr20.4 that Payroll could flip on and off. The initially setup was conducted on each form that needed to have INQUIRY access only.
