Our organization uses EDI with a fairly small number of vendors.  Fax is more prevalent, but we would like to use EDI more.  We do not use GHX.  It seems that Lawson's Trading Partner list is awfully short.  Grainger is one company that we'd like to start with, but they are not on that list.  We are also working with a consultant to work through some procurement issues, and he threw doubt on whether this could be set up.  I'm surprised that Lawson has made no addition for a big supplier like Grainger.  In general, what options are there for setting up with non-listed trading partners other than going to a service like GHX?  Has anyone had experience with Grainger in particular?

      Hi Brian -

It can definitely be setup - I just did one of these where the Vendor was not on the Lawson Trading Partner list AND they refused to pay supplier fees to GHX, so not on GHX either. It takes a bit of EDI knowledge to map the segments correctly to the ED10 and ED40 records, but it can be done. Grainger should have an EDI implementation guide and containing the GS02 GS02, ISA05, ISA07 and all that jazz to setup the Lawson ED10. Worst case you can ask them for a sample EDI file (850, 855 etc.) and find the values in the segments yourself to map the ED10 fields. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like additional assistance on any of this.
