    Hello,
What would be the best way or only way to restrict people from either entering or selecting a UOM for Inventory items only when they are on the Lines Tab for RQ10.  I know I can secure the field, but then they would not be able to enter the UOM for non stock items.  I also found out that it will not display the UOM if it is secured.  Even though they have been trained to not enter or select a UOM some still do and it causes problems in our Warehouse. Thank you.

Can you rephrase this? I think it contradicts itself...
The way I read it, you want to restrict selecting/entering a UOM only to Inventory items, yet "then they would not be able to enter the UOM for non stock items" ??

        Hi John,
Normally when entering Inventory (stock) items on RQ10 we want them to leave the UOM field blank so it defaults to the correct UOM, but some are entering a UOM and it is sometimes the wrong one. They may enter the Purchase UOM instead of the stock UOM. If I secure the field through Lawson security it will not allow the entering or selecting of a UOM for any item, stock or non stock. We would like them to be able to enter the UOM for non stock items, but not stock items. Is it possible to write a rule for this?

You can use Design Studio or 4GL user exit. However I think the issue is your item setup with regard to UOMs. You can control valid buy UOMs on the item, which is what it sounds like you're trying to do.

Thank you John and Ragu for your responses. We didn't purchase Design Studio so that is out, but I will take a look at the 4GL user exit and also how we have our valid buy UOM's set up for them.
