We currently have activities/grants for Research and Capital however our Marketing department has just requested a new and separate activity structure in Lawson/Infor. I need help in establishing a structure since this will be completely different from our current. What steps should I take to setup a Marketing activity Group that does not want budget editing turned on and only wants to use Activities to monitor their expenses. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The first thing you need to do is set up a new Activity Group on AC00. Use AC05 to create new account categories to be used for these marketing activities, assuming you would want to use different ones than those you already have established for Research and Capital. Then on AC08 you would create the activity structure where you can assign the account categories from AC05 and indicate whether each acct category is available for billing/revenue/capitalization (would assume no on all). When you set up the activity on AC10, set the "Billable, Contract" field to No.

        Thank you.

For the levels, since its not a lot that we are tracking, just our advertising spend by campaign, what would you recommend the levels to be? We were thinking Entity and Campaign however we don't want our users to keep entering different activity numbers for each campaign spend. Is it too simplistic to track by 1 level?

Also, instead of having to add new activities every year for each new budget, can we setup new budget numbers to take over once the new budget year is in effect-is it AC20.6/7/8?
