Im creating a row file in RW10.4. It seems the description is limited to 30 characters. Is there any other display options for row description that would allow for more characters?

    Thanks,
    Matt

      Hi Matt.

Unfortunately there is no other option that the display option for row description can be more than 30 characters.

If you go to RW11.3 where the row is defined, the only option for row description is 30 characters.

Matt, I have one way around the 30 character limitation in Report Writers. The Chart of Accounts allows for up to 60 characters, so if you set your Row to use the Chart description, and set the format of the column to accept up to 60 characters, you can actually have that long of a description print on your Report.

In order to use the chart desc do you just have to set the Detail to be "Account"?

This sounds very useful. Where can you specify in the row to use chart defnition and where can you specify the format to be 60 characteres because the only option is on RW00 on the options tab to use a report length of 60 or more.

Matt, after selecting Type "D" for Detail, then under Det select either A for account or S for subaccount, depending on which description you want to have print. and Ruma, in order to get the 60 characters to print on the report, change the RW20.1 Format column to have a column width of 60.

In the row file when you define your header row, on the description it still does not allow me to print more than 30 characters. It is only the detail accounts under a header on the row file that I can define and use the chart.
