Obviously there is arguably gain by the possibility to splitting the tables for a production product line across multiple file groups - and potentially across multiple LUNs if SAN is used. The follow on questions and feedback desired from anyone who has done this is:
1. What was the criteria used for the division of the tables - high usage? high volume of data? both? some other criteria?
2. How many file groups did you utilize?
3. Was the gain in performance justifiable for the effort needed to do this exercise?
