I would like to know if it is possible to do a hot backup for Lawson system? Currently we do nightly cold backup for both Lawson app and database (Oracle), we are planning to do hot backup for both the app and db but based on Lawson support it would not be a good idea to do hotbackup for Lawson. Reason is that things are held in memory.
Could you share your experience with Lawson system backup?

What platform are you on, e.g. Windows, Unix, iSeries?

Are you on LSF9? And what are you currently using for backups?

yes we are on LSF9. Currently we have nightly cold backup(shutdown both db and app) through BCV.

I'm not too familiar with BCV, but I'm assuming it is creating a shadow backup of a volume (a la "mksysb")?
To properly do hot backup, you would need backup software with an "open file" agent and an Oracle agent, along with using Oracle RMAN.
In the past, I have successfully configured and used Veritas for Lawson clients, and it works great. Restores work like magic
