What is the easiest way to change users default data area.

We are upgrading apps this weekend and the data area will change from Prod803 to Prod903, is there and easy way to assign prod903 to all users security. we are still using LAUA for security.

I have tested the "mass assignment" function - which seems to work, but when a user logs into portal - the default data area for that user shows LOGAN. When i check in LS, it is showing data area of Prod903.

Is there another method to change the data area for all users ?

Andrew, "mass assignment" should work just fine. I wonder if perhaps their security class doesn't have access to the new product line, Prod903?

        Thank you for reply.

they do have access to the new data area (we have done a secdump / load to create) - the strange thing is:

say if i do a mass change on a user, when that user logs in and checks their defualts it shows LOGAN as defualt data area..but when they run - say a gl165 the data area shows Prod90. Just the fact  that in user options it shows LOGAn - is troubling. Once the mass assignment is done, is there anything else that needs to run ?

Also i know the mass assignment changes the RM Information in LS, what about lawson environment information (where you set printer group, job queue) - does it also change the data area there - or is that another area of mass assignment ?

If you know of an easier way I would love to try it. We have a dba in company - could the GEN database be edited ?

Remember that in LS, data area and product line can be different (but in your case should be the same...), and that may be part of the problem...

However, did you do an IOSCacheRefresh after adding the new product line to the security classes in LAUA?
