    Our environment is 9.0.0.8 AIX and we have a new ADAM server that we need to migrate to as soon a possible due to performance issues with updates from the security client.

    Our network team is having difficulty using the Windows backup from our test instance to restore to the new instance.  I'm not sure of the details, but they have asked me to check with the community to see if anyone has migrated to a new ADAM server.  Has anyone been through this?

    Thanks in advance.

      Our test environment is 9.0.1.4 with AIX 5.3 and about 2 months ago we migrated to a new ADAM server recently from an old Pentium III server. After we were finished replicating the adam instance we changed the name of the new server to match the old server name so that we did not have to make any changes in ssoconfig. Below are the steps that we used:

      After installing ADAM on the new server, we selected the option to create a new ADAM instance, then on the 'setup options' screen we selected - 'A replica of an existing instance'. On the other configuration screens, we made sure that the Instance name and LDAP port number matched the values on the current adam server. On the remaining setup screens, you will enter in the name of the existing ADAM instance that you want to replicate and the user name and password that will be used to replicate the information as well as the active directory partition that you want to copy (we only had one available to select from). Not sure if this is the recommended way, but we haven't experienced any issues to date. -Kelly

        Kelly, I will forward this information to our DBA who is working with this.

        Thanks for the information!

          If your using NTbackup Check your registry setting.

          HKEY_Local_Machine -> system -> Control -> BackupRestore -> FilesNotToBackup

          and see if your edb*, dit files are exclude from the backup. I just ran into the problem recently. Some patch must have been pushed to the server that excluded these files from the backup and without them you don't have a valid Adam backup.

          The easiest way to move Adam to a new server is to install an empty Adam on your new server named the same with the same directory structure.  Stop the new service on the new server.  Import your backup into the new Adam location and restart the service.

          Then use ssoconfig to point your Lawson environment to the new Adam server.
