I am trying to set up a new service that we can use to point to html programs for our dashboards.

Ever since we went live our dashboards have the full url to the XHRNET program it is calling.

I have been told that we can set up a new service to replace the commom portion of the URL so that if it changes (which we are on the second round of changing) - it only has to be changed in one place.

I would like to know what goes in the different fields on the new service screen and what do I put in the URL on the dashboard,

I have tried to look in reporting services admin guide but it wasn't a lot of help.

    Any help would be appreciate.

    Thanks.

Make sure youve got the LBI InfoCenter installed (should have been installed if you are 9.0.4.2 or later). If its installed it would have a URL similar to this:

      http://lbi_base_URL/helplbi/index.jsp

Navigate to Lawson Business Intelligence Administration and User Guides > Framework Services Administrator and User Guide > Framework Services administration > Services

Here there is a definition of each option when registering a services.

If you cant find it let me know and ill repost here. a few notes not included in the user guide:

      * providerId - dont make this too hard to remember as youll need to reference this when constructing your URLs, save your self some sanity and having to come back to the Tools dashboard to check. CANNOT be the same as id
      * providertype - you can use anything you want here, keep it short and relevent (ESS or MSS in your case perhaps would be good)
      * type - If you arent tying this service to resident functionality in LBI you can define this as anything you want. If you want the service to show up on the Tools dashboard you must use homepage. Services are grouped on the Tools dashboard by providertype

        Matthew -

Thanks you for the info. I think I have the service set up now - but am still not sure what i put in each URL on the dashboard reports to actually use that service.

I have set up the service to point to our XHRNET directory so on the URL for the job profile on ESS - how do i reference that service and add "jobprofile.htm" to get it to display when clicked on?

Thanks for any other help you can give.
