    Report Bursting.....

I have a bunch of Crystal Reports that I wanted to be able to group by manager and send automatically (by email) to 200 different managers. However, I have always needed to print the report and interoffice mail it. I found a tool called PDF-eXplode that allows me put a simple tag in the header and it will send the report to the managers by email... all from one report

I have done a couple simple tests and they worked - tomorrow I am sending my first production report.

Anyone else have experience with a tool like this?

I'm guessing you are using this as an alternative to LBI?

        Hi Shane,
I haven't used that tool (PDF-eXplode), but there is another one that I've also heard a lot of good things about that does bursting as well. It's called Visual-CUT: http://www.milletsoftware.com/Visual_CUT.htm.

LBI will burst by tags and I have been told that after 8.0.3 there is a tag for Attributes. You could build a report that is rolled up by attribute and then burst it via email to the managers.

The difference is that these are extremely low cost alternatives to LBI (i.e. they cost $300 vs. whatever LBI costs). However, they are meant for small situations, etc. and are not full-blown report deliver solutions.

              Shane/John,

Thanks for the information. Always good to hear about the alternatives that are out there...
