We currently use GHX for our EDI transactions and someone mentioned Data Trans to me and I'd never heard of them. Anyone have any experiences with them they'd be willing to share? I'm curious if they are a viable alternative.

    We aren't necessarily looking to move . . .

We are using GHX as well. The only other exchange that comes to my mind is Axway.
But I wanted to broaden the question a bit, in two directions...
      1) What are people's experiences with other EDI exchanges?
      2) Are there organizations using two (or more) EDI exchanges?
      3) Are there any organizations utilizing cXML for Supply Chain/Accounts Payable transactions (instead of or in tandem with EDI transactions)?

Question 2 came from a suggestion from a consulting group. The intent was to fill in suppliers that GHX did not have as Trading Partners. It seems feasible, but I am not sure of the actual value.
Question 3 came because once you get outside of Healthcare, cXML is more of the standard. I am not sure what that would look like in Lawson--maybe X-12/cXML translations back and forth provided by the exchange partner?

Thanks for letting me pile on,

re: the consultants wanting to fill in suppliers GHX doesn't have. Between integrated EDI and MetaTrade, I've got my top 100 PO vendors by line count and by spend on GHX. This makes the ROI for getting another EDI up and running and then maintained marginal. Prior to GHX we had GXS - before my time, so I'm not certain if it was just a service or similar to GHX, but it's what our first EDI vendors were on.

The only vendor I've ever heard mention cxml was Amerisource Bergen. And it was in the form of "Do you use EDI or cxml?" so I may even be misremembering.

I haven't heard of Data Trans - I know GHX was originally selected as we're part of the Premier GPO and as stated, they've done a good job making certain it would be expensive for us to look elsewhere.

We used GHX 12 years ago when they were first starting out. The yearly service cost was only $3000 per IDN at first. Then they bumped the cost up to $10,000 per IDN so we dropped them. We use secure FTP with GXS for 4 suppliers and do direct ftp with our main distributor and a couple others. We've just contracted with Edict Systems to increase our EDI vendor base. They offer a lot of what GHX offers at substantially lower costs.
