Is it possible to deliver an order twice in MSCM?

We want to see if we can deliver an order from our off-site warehouse to the dock of the requesting location, scan the delivery document and have the dock personel sign for the order, and then also allow staff to deliver that same order and have someone sign for it.  Essentially delivery and signing twice for the same order.

There's a break in our order tracking and would like to shore that up by having the dock personel acknowledge that they received the order.

Once the package has been "final delivered" it can't be delivered again. However, you could use delivery transfers to deliver it to the dock location and then the final delivery to your end location. It adds some more steps but can be worth it if you need the visibility into the where the package is.

We use it now to transfer to outbound shelves before they are picked up by our external couriers. There is some setup involved - you have to build those transfer locations in MSCM before they are available to use but that honestly doesn't take very long. Our staff hate transfers though because it does take quite a bit of clicking to get to it (one or two more than regular delivery, I think).

Here's the training document we use for Transfers and Final Deliveries in the handheld (with screen shots).

You could require the offsite warehouse to dock log the packages in MSCM to show their receipt. You'd need to print the bar coded delivery document.

Thanks for the ideas and documentation. We'll take a look at both and see what works best for us.

Sorry, Neil - I have no idea why you would be getting a login error from the confirmation page. You should already be logged in to MSCM itself in order to have gotten that far. My best guess is some sort of security issue?

                Hi Michelle

How do you handle the transfers to your courier shelf?  Do you have the courier sign for anything or does the staff just confirm on the handheld showing it's been placed on the shelf?

We built a fake company in MSCM that will never be used in Lawson. We built all of our delivery locations in that company (company 99) to make it easier to create misc receipts. We also built in shelf locations that are solely for transfers to help track the path of the product. Each shelf location has a barcode we printed on it. When the product is delivered, we scan the bar code as part of the "delivery".

So for example, when there is a box to go to an offsite location, it is transferred in MSCM to the courier shelf for that location. The final delivery piece happens when it arrives at the end location.
