I've been tasked with obtaining quotes for new handhelds as we move from 9.0 to 10.0. I was told by our IT guy that this runs on windows and we need WM6.1or higher. My question is this (excuse me if I don't explain well enough as I'm new to the Lawson processes, etc.)  We were given information that the dolphins or old school MC 75/65 would have to be used. Is there nothing cutting edge handhelds we could use, or that you are using? I look at Nike or Nordstrom and they have small touchscreen devices they use, and it looks like we'd have to use some lanky dolphins or bulky MC65's. Which Moto I guess was bought out by zebra? Please help with what you are using and pro's / con's of them. We currently use MC70's and feel like MC65/75 would be the best route as all staff have training and are comfortable with them. I'd really like something the size of an Ipod/iTouch like Nike and them use, but perhaps because they run on android or apple ios', thats not the option. ~Shane

      Shane,

I wish I had better news. I've actually gone through several rounds of device trials to try and find a non-Lawson supported device that will work. Unfortunately, we found several show-stopping problems. The biggest issue is that with picking, MSCM allows you to scan the item bar code and jump to that item in the list for the count; none of the devices we looked at could do that. No matter how nice they felt (loved the datalogic falcon the best for sheer hand comfort) we finally had to abandon the effort to find a non supported device.

Assuming we are still using MSCM, when we replace ours we will most likely go with the Dolphin as having separate letter and number keys is important to us. We are currently using the 9190G (gun style) and have had nothing but problems with them.

www.emkat.com can supply you a list of all models compatible with the different Lawson versions. Call them: (763)744-1204

We've been using the MC75A units for about 5 years and have recently begun experiencing display failures. We also use Emkat and they told me that the MC75s were being discontinued and the replacement terminal is the MC55.

Does anyone know if the Honeywell Dolphin 70E unit works with v10?
