RQC non stock templates.  I am trying to change an item that was once an inventory item to non-stock.

I inactivated the item in IC12 but the requestor now get an error message in RQC, when selecting that item – “the item you selected is not valid based on your requester set up”. How can I set this up without activating the item in IC12 again?  I left the From Location blank thinking that would do it.  Still getting error message

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Instead of inactivating the item on IC12, just set it to non-stock and you will achieve the same result.

I would agree with David. Don't inactivate the IC12 record, just change the inventory tracking flag to N. If you inactivate and leave the From Location blank on the template (line and header) the From Location for the item will just default from the requesting location setup. Which more than likely is the same as what it was on the template. Easier just to leave the IC12 record active.

The setup will depend upon your data model.  For example, some organizations setup all active items (inventory and non-stock) in each IC12 with the INVENTORY TRACKING flag set to "N" for non-stock items and set to "Y" for inventory items.  This is what David W is talking about above.

Other organizations only setup active inventory items in IC12 and they use a different FROM LOCATION for inventory and non-stock orders (on the req/PO).

There is also some consideration that must be given to the PO25 pricing agreements in situations where an organization uses the "participants" feature (PO25.3).

So, the key to figuring this out is to first understand how a new non-stock item is setup in your organization, then emulate that setup.  Sorry for what may appear to be a vague answer, but please let me know if you need more help and I will be happy to help you through this.

I would also add, if you are using the automatic item replace functionality on IC11, changing certain flags on the IC12, such as the inventory flag, will prevent the replacement item from working.

                Hi all,
I'm changing a stock item back to non-stock item, but get below error message:
Error: Last Received Cost exists in ICRECEIPTS
It's a transaction history for stock item. How should I do?
                Thanks,
