There's been this buzz for years about how health systems need to look at supply utilization to reduce expenses. Tightening down contracts is good but it only goes so far and it's hard to get blood from a stone. Lawson is developing their Supply Chain Analytics tool but it's in it's infancy and does not integrate clinical information. Perhaps their Clinical Bridge will help with this in the future. Does anyone out there have a good system now that integrates supply chain data (mgf, mfg item #, unit cost, Lawson item #, etc.) with clinical data (physician, procedure, age, gender) along with reimbursement data? I want to be able to slice and dice supply expenses by physician and procedure and we want one system that pulls everything together.

Not in Lawson - but I'm feeding Epic Optime enough data that they are producing the report from there. Now they Cupid (sp?) in the Cath Lab and there's something down the pike for Radiology. But it's not any kind of auto feed. I created it in sql.

The key is tying the lawson item number to the procedure charge item in your clinical system.  This way you are able to get direct consumption costs.  We are beginning to do that in our organization.
