AM05.1 - Account Group
**Form purpose
Use Account Group (AM05.1) to define the accounts to be used to post journal
entries created when adding, adjusting, transferring, or disposing of assets.
At least one account group must be set up if a book was defined as a posting
book for the company on Current Calendar (AM01.1).
**Prerequisites
Before you can assign an account group to a company, you must have a General
Ledger company defined on Company (GL10.1) and the accounts that you select
for the account group must exist in the company's chart of account.

1. Define at least one depreciation book.
2. Define a depreciation calendar for the current year (AM01.1).
3. Define an asset type (AM06.1)

5. Define an accounting unit group (AM09.1)

**Required fields
The following fields are required: Company, Account Group, Clearing or Debt,
Proceeds, Expense, Gain, and Loss.
**Decision/Impact
Use deferred gain and loss accounts if you are going to have like-kind
exchanges. See the Asset Management User Guide for more information on
like-kind exchanges.

account group.

AMACCOUNT - Detail file. Used to store AM Accounts for CLR, PRO, COS, GAN,
LOS, DGN, DLS.
AMACCTGRP - Header file. Used to store Account Group records.
AMAUGROUP - Used to retrieve and validate account unit groups.
AMCONTROL - Updated when adding or changing account groups. A record is
added to the AMCONTROL file for each company used in the AM
system.
