After reading a couple of posts in this forum on how to capture LBI reporting statistics, we decided to experiment with using the events in Reporting Services. We built a server side program and it's working properly -- we have it set to be called on the Report Request Received event for Every Report Request on several of our crystal reports. If the crystal report has no parameter page, everything works smoothly. However, if the report has a Crystal Parameter page (which is the majority of our reports), we're finding that, while the event program is triggered, the report never runs. The sequence of actions are:
1. User invokes report from a list
2. Received event calls program; crystal parameter page is displayed
3. User enters parameters, clicks OK to run report
4. Received event calls program; parameter page is re-displayed with all parameters cleared.
Does anyone know what might be preventing the execution of the report after the event program is called?
Our LBI version is 9.0.4.1 on Windows 2008 R2.

maybe a stupid question but are you catching remurl off the request header and redirecting when youre done? If so Id say write the remurl to the log file and see if its changing or if it has the values you expect (ie parameters and paramater values).
just a note, are you aware that report statistics are delivered with LBI 10.x+?

We are on LBI version 9-0-4-1-150 and have had a similar problem for our ON DEMAND reports where the user selects a report and tries running it. The parameter page pops-up and the user types in the parameter selection and clicks RUN. The report run for a few seconds and it appears to have completed but there is no output. Our experience has been that the problem is due to the security settings in Internet Explorer. On your web browser if you go into tools|Internet Options and Security settings. Select Custom and look for "File Download" and make sure this is enabled. This solved our mystery. I do not know if this your problem or something else but thought I will share.

Hi Matt,
We are catching the remurl and passing that back along with the status code, but there are no parameters or parameter values included in the remurl. I used fiddler to capture the http calls -- here's what shows when the user clicks the OK button after entering the parameters:
27 302 HTTP pdcvsw14.pdc.city:9080 /ers/ersRequestHandler.jsp?BROWSERWINDOWID=1911346339267745
28 304 HTTP pdcvsw14.pdc.city:9080 /ers/crystalreportviewers12/prompting/images/transp.gif
29 302 HTTP sqldev /localwebapps/lbireporttime/default.aspx?type=start&fsuserid=hoppesk&remurl2=http%3A%2F%2Fpdcvsw14.pdc.city%3A9080%2Fers%2FersRequestHandler.jsp%3FBROWSERWINDOWID%3D1911346339267745%26REPORTREQRECEIVED%3Dfalse&reportname=HOURS100
30 200 HTTP pdcvsw14.pdc.city:9080 /ers/ersRequestHandler.jsp?BROWSERWINDOWID=1911346339267745&REPORTREQRECEIVED=false&status=0
And yes, I do know stats will be available on version 10, we're just not ready to do that upgrade.

imty,
I checked my IE security settings and File Download is enabled. my symptoms are a bit different from what you experienced, I don't even see the report run at all. It just immediately refreshes the parameter page and clears any entered values.
thanks for the suggestion.

Kevin,
as long as youre capturing remurl2 and redirecting to that, there should be no issues. if its failing Id say strip out everything except the redirect and see if just that works.
you arent using anything more than the Request Received event are you?

Originally, we had the Request Received and Request Complete events set. I turned off the Request Complete to isolate where the issue was occurring. The Request Received event is the only one being used now.
We'll try changing the redirect.
thanks.
