Alternative to MKS AND LUU??

Hi all,

Are there alternatives to using MKS and LUU?  I've seen in LACONFIG, it gives you options for either one.  However, I'm curious if something free like Cygwin could be used, or another type of UNIX emulator can be configured to run with Lawson?

I appreciate any thoughts.
