When installing WAS 7 from scratch for LBI install, is there a need to install a separate JDK, or is the one that comes with WAS7 enough?  I can't seem to find out.

Greg,

WAS installs the full Java platform so you shouldnt have to install anything else.
If any of my answers were helpful an endorsement on LinkedIn would be much appriciated! www.linkedin.com/pub/matthew-nye/1a/886/760/

You will probably need Sun JDK installed. On a seperate LBI install, you will need DSSO. DSSO requires Sun JDK/Perl/BouncyCastle etc.

Thanks, everyone!! This place has saved my bacon a lot!

I hadn't got as far as installing DSSO, so that's probably where my confusion came from...
Thanks again, everyone!

When installing on Win Server 2k8, do I then need to download and install both the 32 and 64 bit JDK's?

I could never get that straight.

Depends on your OS

32bit OS, 32bit JDK + 32bit PERL + 32bit WebSphere
64bit OS, 64bit JDK + 64bit PERL + 64bit WebSphere

Also, DSSO first before you do LBI.

DSSO first? I've always installed it after LBI. Good thing you pointed that out!!
Why the change?

Typically the natural flow is to install/configure DSSO after LBI is up and running.  There is no requirement to install the DSSO components first.

On a side note, if you have WAS installed in to a path without spaces, you can simply use the WAS JDK for DSSO.  You do not require a SUN JDK.

I usually do the DSSO first, cause after EFS install, i could just jump right in configuring DSSO as authentication without having the need to go thru the DSSO install. Then I would know if it's working or not right away. (I hate waiting)
