We have recently installed LBI. We have been able to publish "home-grown" crystal reports and they run fine.
When selecting print in the Crystal Reports 2008 viewer a "Print to PDF" box appears with a Page Range section and information that the viewer must export to PDF to print. If we click on the Export button a File Download box appears. Choosing Open will bring up the local PCs version of Adobe and one can either print or export.
Is this the correct behavior for LBI/Crystal Reports? If so, is there any way to bypass the "Print to PDF" box and go directly to Adobe?

Sounds like you have the default output going to a Crystal report.
Change it in the publication (LBI 'Output Options') to just output a pdf file. That should fix the issue. More instructions (and screen prints if you need them). Just post back.

I changed the output type from "Default" to "PDF".
When running the report, a small box "Please wait while the document is being processed." appeared with
a processing indicator and then the Adobe Reader came up almost immediately.
One small odd thing now is that when I closed the Adobe Reader, the "Please wait..." box continues as though the report hasn't completed and the parameter page is just behind it. I can close them both manually.

by design all Crystal Reports solutions must export to PDF in order to print. This is true even with BOE, this is because of the way the engine handles rendering of the pages. In order to deliver the report ASAP to the client, one page is rendered at a time. By exporting to PDF all pages are rendered and thus can be printed. Having said that, you can Burst to a printer but this doesnt involve user interaction and probably doesnt meet the business needs.
What version of RS are you?

Not using RS. May install/use it in the future to created shared data sources. We are writing our own SQL queries directly against Lawson tables. Performance is quite good.
We understand about LBI using PDF printing, we were just wondering if it was behaving "properly". Apparently it is.
One more situation: We have been able to schedule reports to run and send email with links, attachments, etc. to one or more users. However, we have not been able to send a scheduled job directly to a printer. The job reports success, and the PDF that was created can be found in the "Lawson Documents" folder. When created the printer device we attempted variious permutations for the address. Apparently, the set up is correct, we had folks from Lawson look at it. We suspect it may be a permissions issue. Any ideas or procedures we can use?
