Variable Action Name

I have need where the Action Name displayed in the user's inbasket is based on a variable. The action taken is the same - just want to display different verbage to the user. I'm hoping not to have to create separate user actions. Anyone done anything like this or know how I might accomplish it?

btw - I did try to substitute a variable name for the Action name - no joy. :-(

I've tried to do this as well but you can't. The connection from the UserAction is based upon the Action defined and you can't use a variable. I agree it would be nice.
You can set custom Actions based upon the approval Task that the UserAction is being used for (unless you are using a variable for that too).
