what could be best way to delete data from WFACTVAR WFACTIVITY files when you have huge record count in these two files.

9674465 - WFACTIVITY

15426057 - WFACTVAR

Using Move work unites to history method is extremely slow.

We are thinking of dropping these two tables and recreate them, any suggestions from experts out there?

We move to active to history every day (closed older than today-30 days) and purge history every week (today-365 days). These flows run in seconds. When we started this we had to catch up, so ran with different dates to move/purge in smaller pieces which is what you may have to do. I don't know how you can drop/add active tables as you probably have flows in progress (e.g. personnel actions waiting for task actions, etc.).

Thanks Barb, This is exactly our goal is to keep on 6 months of transactional data in these tables, to get there first we have to clear the old data. I did try using move/purge command but it was extremely slow, for example on average it deleted only 200 workunits in a day. That’s why we are looking into this method. So if we drop these two table and re-import last 6 months transactional data back then it won’t impact any outstanding/pending approvals(Pa52s).
