Auto Logout in Portal

Ok, I'll post again. I have seen some suggestions on how to configure the webserver or the client to have the Portal automatically logout after say 10 minitues of inactivity.

I have seen some documents which describe how to do this in IIS 6.0 but I have tried the features there and it just don't work ....

Anyways, Want to get some real-life suggestions on how to do this either with IIS 6.0 or something else. We want to do this on the server side if possible. We are trying to avoid any other add on's on the server side.

I've seen some client-based solutions floating around (e.g. http://www.schronce.net/lawson). I don't think you can do it on the server side, but I might be wrong. The "session timeout" in IIS is for ASP pages. There is a timeout parameter in Tomcat's web.xml configuration file that might do it, but I haven't played with that...
