Hello,
I am researching what the minimum needs for Tax Factory is for Lawson PR/Benefits/HR.
I am doing a conversion/migration and we have no need for PR/Benefits/HR transactions such as benefits updates, Pers Actions, Payroll/Time Entry, but will be using PR,BN and HR reports and inquiries.
Is Tax Factory needed if we are only running inquiries and reports, or is it required in any and all situations of running any type of PR, BN and HR programs? Also we are not using ESS/MSS.
Thanks in advance,
Roger

Hi Roger,
I believe most things in Lawson will run without it but you will not be able to calculate pay from the PR module. We use Tax Factory but had a situation a few years back where there was a problem with the install. The users did not report any issues until they tried to calculate a pay check at which point the payroll program crashed out. There may be other things Lawson calls out to the tax engine for but we did not encounter them. BSI raised their maintenance fee by 5% this year and if you combine that with the revised maintenance formula they use for new customers, the product is now quite costly to run!

Hey Joe,
That's what I suspected, but we won't be running any PR calcs, PR140's, etc.
Thanks again...

Roger:
I know you said you were not using EMSC, but if there is a time when you will be using ESS: The payment modeling function I believe makes calls to TF.
