Congrats on posting!

We have transitioned to another payroll system outside of Lawson.  Our BSI contract is about to expire.  Is it possible to issue a payroll check without using BSI to calculate taxes?  This is in case we have an adjustment that is found during the W2 review process.  We would be responsible for calculating payroll taxes.

I do not want to renew BSI contract for a full year if we only need it sparingly (or not at all).

I’m almost certain this can NOT be done automatically.

My initial thoughts would be you’d have to setup deduction codes to emulate the taxes that would have been deducted, then assign those to an employee, with start and end dates matching the check run, and issue a check with no taxes... essentially treating the deductions as taxes.

This ALL assumes that the PR80 will even run without BSI installed, which I’m not sure can be done.

Thank you have the quick reply.  If we use your suggestion, then would the W2 boxes update?  I am thinking not.

Another option could be to interface a check in, Using a PR5xx program, and (re)issue that check

As for the W-2 boxes, it you interfaced a payment in, possibly. If you did the mappings, I would doubt it.

Someone else more knowledgeable than I may have a more elegant solution

If you enter a PR80 and use the "add with no calculate" option, you should be able to calculate taxes outside Lawson and the payment would post just as it would normally, updating the W2. Of course I can't guarantee it since I've never tried to process a payment w/o BSI active.
