COBOL Database input/output routines

Hello All, Does anyone know if the Database input/output routines within the COBOL programs are documented anywhere? For example: If I wanted to know exactly what 840-FIND-EMPSET1 does; how would I find that? We are researching the possiblity of moving one of our COBOL programs that runs after the payrun to a .Net program. The developer needs to determine what the db input/output routines are doing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
