Changing Serial Tracked Setting

We have a few items that we're currently tracking serials numbers for.  What would be the steps to change so that those items are no longer tracked.  They have PO history and transactions.  Would the best way be to inactivate that Lawson number and start fresh?

Yes, we inactivate and add new. Don't know about "best" but it's the least painful!

So can you adjust the qty out for the item that needs inactivated and then adjust back in for the new item that has the corrected serial tracked setting?

Yes - we usually add the new item to IC11 and IC12. I think they have to use IC20 to bring in the new item to get it to ask for the serial number. I know that depending how many/how much pain - the old item is kept active and used up and then the new item is just manually reordered in the interim.
