Has anyone ever run into an issue where an employee uses ESS to set up a 50/50 split for DD's where if there is not an even amount being paid that the system generates a check for the remainder non divisible by two amount? Here is an example: an employee makes $300.01, so 150.00 goes to one account and 150.00 goes to other and the system generates a check for the remaining penny. This would not happen if the person made $300.02, $300.04, $300.06, etc. .
Anyone have any ideas about this?

What version of ESS are you running?

We haven't run into this issue.

Does your employee have 50% listed for both accounts? Or are they dollar amounts because the ee generally gets the same net pay every period? Sounds like you need one set up for 50% and one default at 100% to capture those fractions of cents rounding pennies.

Yes, they set it up as 50% for each account. The ones we have found out about we go in and change them to 50% and 100% to make them pick up the fractional remainder. Probably will just have to educate the employee's that if they want a 50/50 split to request 50% to one and 100% to the other. Thanks.

You can force an employee to have a default account at 100% by setting the Automatic Deposit field on the Pay Tab of the HR11 to a Y. We have all of our employees set to a Y for this field.

It cannot be set to a Y if they are a partial as a 50% and 50% deposit though, right?

What the Y will do is make the employee have one account set up as default at 100%. The employee can still have multiple direct deposit accounts either flat or percent amounts as long as there is also one set up as 100% default.

For example - $50.00 to account A, $10.00 to account B, 50% to account C and the remainder to default account D set up as 100% (that is 100% of the remaining after A, B and C are satisfied)

Does that answer your question or am I not understanding what you are asking?

Because the employee's are the ones entering this information in ESS, would it mean that there would need to be more user education training or could teh ESS page be modified to include further detail as to how to "properly" set up a 50/50 split?

We have our HS06 Partial Allowed field set to N, along with the HR11 Automatic Deposit flag as a Y. With these settings, ESS prompts a user to first set up a default account before adding additional accounts. This can be customized to say what you want it to. It might be helpful for you to change the set up in a test environment so you can see how it works.

Good Luck!
