ESS Benefit enrollment page hangs

For some employees, the open enrollment page hangs once you click the continue button on the welcome page. So far, I have not been able to figure out why it hangs or if it is for a particular type of employee. When this happen, it hangs when the form is trying to retrieve your current benefits

I have done the following -
-Run the QN732 and they do not appear on the report. All applicable deductions are there w/dates
-Compare the benefit records (BENEFIT) to others and there are not differences
-Check BS31 and BS30
-Cleared my cache
-If i click the continue button a 2nd time I receive the message of "no more data for given key".
-I dumped BNBEN and it was blank


The one thing I have noticed is that if remove one of the records from BN32 it no longer hangs and I can start the process over again. Once I'm complete and I try to go back it, it hangs again.

Does anyone have any ideas why the screen would hang?

Does it work regardless of which benefit plan you remove from BN32, or could it be related to a specific plan?

Might these people be enrolled in more plans than others (maybe there's a maximum limit)?

A couple of things we have seen with our open enrollment have pointed to security, employee groups or plan set up.

I would check a couple of places
1.) try it while having a fiddler session open. that should help ID places to look.
2.) Look in the Websphere logs or security logs to see if this is related to a security setting

My investigation lead me to the IE settings. Try changing the Internet Options settings, (Browsing History) Temporary Files to "Automatically"

It just does not sound like a security issue at first unless you have very specific security rules in Lawson Security because you would expect all benefits to be locked or the entire form to be locked. HOWEVER, is the benefit that you remove from BN32 the same each time? It might be one of the setup forms that it is trying to use to calculate benefit information.

If you are using Lawson Security there is a document that lists all of the forms that are used by ESS - you might want to see if you have all of the forms accessible. Also, a great test would be to have your administration account setup as one of the users and see if you still get the issue. Since that account should have access to everything you would know if it is Lawson or the browser...

Quick Update

I did run a fiddler and found out that the BS10 will not page down. The workaround I put in place was to change BS01 to "N" for update immediately and we will have to use the BS531 and BN532, etc to update the pending records.
