PA50 - Purpose of "History Correction Method"?

I wonder if anyone has any technical information on the use/purpose of the "History Correction Method" field in PA50.1, which can be found under the "Defaults" tab.

All of our actions are currently utilising option 1 (Create pending update records) and nobody seems to know what selecting this option actually does. Is it simply a way to set this as the default correction method when undertaking corrections via Special Processing in PA52.1?

This is a question we continually ask ourselves as our process doesnt seem to work very well. I recently found a Knowledge Base article #1196467 that has a number of documents attached to it that explains each of the options. Hopefully that can give you some answers to your questions.
