We're new to the BN106 process, for creation of a HIPAA834 file, so please forgive me if these are stupid questions. (We chose to run in Validate mode, which as we understand, should produce a "full" file including all emplopyees for the chosen beneft type and plan.):
1. Are there any prerequisite jobs that must be run before you can run BN106?
2. Can BN106 be run multiple times, without impact to other jobs, tables, etc.?
3. Is there something else that needs to be done to get the BN106 to include dependent data (Or, is there another job we aren't ware of for dependents)?
We ran some BN106 jobs to create test HIPAA834 files. However, none seem to have dependent data included in them...and some even seem to have excluded some remployee data as well.
Therefore, we wanted to run the jobs again, checking all paramteres used, etc., but are unsure if it is safe to run BN106 multiple times.
Please help. Thank you in advance!!

We use the BN106 for all of our transmissions so I know some about it. To answer your questions:
1) You would want to run your BN100 and BN101 to update any pending transactions to the benefits.
2) You can run multiple times in Validate mode. Update mode is a one shot deal. Validate creates a file of all your employees and dependents enrolled in a plan. Update creates a file to send only changes to the provider. These are based on benefits transactions that create a record on BN53.
3) Are your dependents tied to your employees? Dependents entered on HR13 are not tied to the employee unless you then tie them on BN32. To check this open BN32 on the DEP button is there an *? the * indicates that the dependent is tied to the employee. There is a conversion program you can run that will do this as well.
Hope this helps.
