I am doing a query for PA02 and need the status and status name or description.  I can get the status but I can't find where the description is located.  It is a lawson field.  Does anyone know how to retrieve it when doing a PA02 Query?

Thanks,

Barbara

When you say "query" are you referring to the Excel Addins? Fields that have drop-down "value lists" show up twice in the addins, first for the field itself, and second for the description associated with the chosen value. So, assuming you are using to query wizard against PA02 forms, you will see that field (POS-POSIT-STATUS) listed twice--first for the code, and second for the description. I'm looking at one now, and _f17OS-POSIT-STATUS is '1' and _f18OS-POSIT-STATUS is 'Active'.

Barb,
Is this the one you're looking for?

1=Active
2=Temporary
3=Frozen
4=Proposed
5=Inactive

They are translate values which is coming from the PA02.scr file

I am in the query but it is for the table PAPOSITION.  I can upload for PA02 but the Query only shows the tables.  I am doing a query from PAPOSITION and the field numbers don't show on the query.

see attachement.  Yes, what I am trying to get is the description for position status 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.  Active, inactive, frozen, etc.

I am on office 2.0.5.0 and I notice the field numbers don't come down on the query anymore.  Is that for you as well.

I just attached an attachement but I don't see it in the messages, how do you open an attachment?

Barb, I'm not sure why your attachment doesn't show up.

When you query, you can either query against tables or against forms. Field numbers don't show when you query against tables--just when you query against forms.

In cases where the drop-down "value lists" are hard-coded in the form (as is the case for this field/form), they are not stored anywhere in a table, just internally within the form. So if you want to include them in an Excel download, you would either have to:
1) add them to a separate sheet in Excel and perhaps do a vlookup() against them, or
2) query against the form instead of the table

As Sam pointed out, you can look at the underlying form (PA02.scr) definition to find the lookup descriptions...

Thanks John and Sam,

I never queried from forms before. I just looked at the first page of the query and saw you can choose either table or forms. Thanks for your help- found the field. THANKS!
