We only have process flow professional 9.0.1.5 and i have done the designer, admin console scheduler etc on a couple of PC's with no problem.  I know there is simetimes issues with classpath and law java home but i have had none of these issues except on one latpop and it is driving me crazy.  Wehn we do the PF install it never prompts to install the java virtual machine.  The admin and event magmt console all run with no problems but we cannot get the designer to start.  Error we are getting is "Unable to start the applciation--the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded.  Class not registered. I have looked at the PC's where this works and they all seem to be different. Java is 1.6_22  Some PC's where PF designer works, have a class path and a law java home in the environment variables and some don't.  Any suggestions are welcomed.

Kate, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is completely frustrated with that install...it's just a pain! What OS are you running on the laptop?

Hi Kate,

You mentioned checking %LAW_JAVA_HOME%, but have you also checked to see that %LAW81_JAVA_HOME% is defined as an environment variable on the laptop pointing to the same location as %LAW_JAVA_HOME%. The %LAW81_JAVA_HOME% variable is referenced in the ClassicalDesigner.bat and EclipseDesigner.bat files within the installation directory for Process Flow Designer tool and is used to set %LAW_JAVA_HOME% in these batch files.

Try this:
- Uninstall the PF designer/tools
- Use this procedure to remove the Microsoft JVM: http://marksxp.mvps.org/WindowsXP/java.php
- Reinstall PF designer/tools, you will be prompted to install the Microsoft JVM

As far as I can tell, this process only works on XP, and is for the "classic" (i.e. non-eclipse) version of the designer.

Thanks John As always you come through when even Lawson is no help. The linkl you pointed us to had the installl for JVM. We uninstalled process flow, installed the JVM and then reinstalled process flow and the designer is now working. You are the best. Thanks Kate
