Upgrading Hardware Power 7 V6

We are upgrading our system from a V5R4 to a Power7 V6 system.  We plan on doing a Restore All from Tape of our Prod to the new system.  I was told that I will need to download the Lawson Environment for the V6 and the patches included.  I need to know is there anything I should be looking out for once we do this.  I tried to talk to support but of course they don't support such a thing and I don't want to purchase another agreement just to get the run aroun

Has anyone done this before and are there instructions on this process?

This is a bit more in-depth of a question than might be suitable for the board. The short answer is NO, a restore isn't going to work correctly.

LDAP changes, Pearl changes, Processflows would change due to new version

The IBM installer is aware of Websphere, LDAP and PEARL and will have these upgraded and working .

One more thing I would create 2 seperate iSeries partitions one on v5r4 and the other on the new v7r1 OS.   You can run live while testing the new version of lawson.  Websphere is a big deal in a difference.  I am in the process of this now.  Production runs on one iSeries v6r1 in one partition and v7r1 runs in the other partition with a test environment.   Next week I will upgrade production with the new OS v7r1 and upgrade lawson since I have tested it out one the test partition first.

Hi Ronald;

  We want to do the same process.  We are upgrading to a Power 7 v7r1 from V5r4.  We plan to upgrade Lawson to 9.011 on the V5R4 Box, then restore to the New box.  Can you share some of the issues that you encountered?  Thanks!
