Does anyone know how to tell if a CTP will run dbreorg before they run the activate process?

I have run the preview process and it tells me this is where dbreorg will run, but that does not mean the activate process will actually run dbreorg.

This is important to know because on Windows we need to shut down Websphere application servers if dbreorg is going to be run. Of course this means getting everyone out of Lawson.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Before the activate process you can run a dbreorg -lcs to see if the dbreorg process is necessary for the CTP you are working on. It will tell you what will be done by the dbreorg. If it returns a message telling you there are any changes, then you know that this particular CTP isn't going to run it. But if it is going to run it, then you are right in shutting down WAS as that will lock the dictionary.

Is this done after the update process is run?

I ask this because I would like to know in advance of running the update process so I can prepare the system and get enough warning to users that the system will be unavailable at a certain time.

If you run in preview mode, then look at your actual preview.log file, it should tell you:
Database patches - None If dbreorg will NOT run, or other information if it will.

We don't apply CTP's to our production system when users are on it.  We take it down and apply them after hours.
