CR REPORT IN LBI DOES NOT STOP PROCESSING

We run CR2008 in the LBI. I have a report which is time consuming, when the user gets impatient and shuts the report down via the parameters page X in upper right hand corner or they ctrl alt del to terminate the program.
our reports run from an ISERIES ACCESS ODBC DRIVER to and AS400 SYSTEM.
when the report is terminated the process on the server keeps running. something isnt terminating between the ODBC and the AS400.
Has anyone experienced this prior?  any fixes, any proper way to terminate a report.
