Alternative to BSI TaxFactory

Well interesting that you ask. I don't know what this means, but in the current (Dec 1st, 2014) Compatibility Matrix, I did see reference (pg 35, I believe) for a product called ALLTAX. It is a Payroll Tax product, so I found that to be interesting.

Seems it handles international taxation, and I'm not sure BSI handles more than US and Canada..

After doing some digging, this seems to (possibly) be the GEAC Tax Software... renamed.

Now, I'm not in the know on this, nor am I a Payroll specialist (though I can run a check cycle if a client was in desperate need of this), but I'd feel comfortable stating the following:

1) Infor was formed in part by the remaining portions of GEAC

2) ALLTAX is being maintained in some way, since the VA used it at one point, and most likely still does today

3) Charles Phillips seems very serious about keeping the money in the house, meaning he'd rather buy the component, than let his clients suffer from an experience he has low/no control over. Moreover, if he already has control/ownership of a product, he'd be less than savvy not to attempt to use it

4) ALLTAX would appear to have a wider appeal to the larger client base of Infor as a whole. This is important, as we are finally seeing the beginning of the first wave of Infor industry-centric clients adopting a historic Lawson Software product.

Again, This is just speculation, as I hadn't had the opportunity to check with a few people from the inside.
Once I get more info that I am allowed to publically state, then I'll update this thread.

PS: If anyone in the know has something more concrete that they can disclose publicly, I'd love to know myself.

I don't have any news on Alltax other than we used it when we were on the old Geac Payroll system and it was much easier to maintain than BSI. We used a consultant to update our BSI to 10 so it went fairly smoothly. We were asked by Infor to be a Beta site for Alltax for version 10 of Payroll, but declined because we didn't feel we had the resources to handle it. I for one would be interested in looking at replacing BSI with Alltax if it is working.
